World’s largest waterjet cutting center
Jiangsu Daming Manufacturing in Wuxi, China, operates what is described as the world’s largest waterjet cutting center, use an extensive range of waterjet cutting solutions. With one of the largest machines capacities in the industry, running 24 machines, whereof 12 are from Water Jet Sweden, Daming manufacture steel components for a wide range of applications, primarily serving the shipbuilding, bridge construction, pressure vessels and related industries.
Daming explains the reasons behind its extensive waterjet cutting capacity:
“The Water Jet Sweden system has its own advantages and can cut thicker plates compare to other types of machines. Laser is mainly suitable for thinner plates. The plasma can cut thicker materials, but the cutting process heats and oxidizes the surface. Waterjet cutting is a cold cutting process, so there is no heat-affected zone and the material surface is not oxidized. This is a major advantage. The maximum thickness we currently cut is up to 200 mm.”
Daming began using Water Jet Sweden machines equipped with KMT ultra-high-pressure pumps in late 2007, initially focusing on conventional 2D waterjet cutting. As customers requirements became increasingly demanding, Daming expanded its capabilities by investing in Water Jet Sweden FiveX system, providing multi-axis, full 3D capabilities.
